This Week's Newsletter
HeyNow,
I hope this newsletter finds you all at least partially recovered from your recent jellybean and chocolate eating binges. I seriously considered assessing the damage from my Easter sweets glom-a-thon, but once I approached the bathroom scale, it seemed to grow legs and started backpedaling around the room. I managed to corner it once or twice, but it proved to be a slippery character. I assured this previously inanimate object that I meant it no harm. Hey, I figured we were all in this together; me, the scale, the mirror and my ever-tightening clothes. This getting in shape thing was going to be a joint effort. However, I underestimated the scales sense of self-preservation. I tried all my best moves, then I tried pleading, begging, cajoling. None of it worked. I lunged for it, but after seeing the scale curl up in the fetal position, I lost my thrill of the chase. So, that is why we’ll never know how much weight I gained over the Easter weekend.
Speaking of begging, pleading and cajoling, I am certainly not above it when it comes to our efforts to help end Type 1 Diabetes. We’re doing our little bit to help with the Fourth Annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Benefit Concert on Friday, April 27 at the Cornerstone Caffe in Freehold, NJ. As always, we have assembled a stellar cast of singer-songwriters and musicians for this occasion, including George Wirth, Tina Vero, Paul Brubaker, Joe Rapolla, Stephen Thomas, Diane Doolittle and Zach Zarrow. I’ll also be performing a few tunes during the evening. Not only will you get to see lots of great musicians, but also the Cornerstone has a totally rocking menu. That’s one reason I’m glad all these other musicians will be playing. I’ll get a chance to munch out on some of the awesome culinary delights at the Cornerstone. We always have some cool prizes that we raffle off “tricky tray” styleeeee. Included in this years prizes, we have signed CD’s from the amazing Rod Picott, signed books from two of my favorite sports columnists, Bob Klapisch (of the Bergen Record and ESPN) and Mike Vaccaro (of the New York Post), a basket from Quinderellas Toys, a basket from Bath and Body Works, a potpourri and candle basket, a coffee basket, a New Jersey singer-songwriter basket and assorted others. If you can’t make the show and still want to take a chance on some of these cool prizes, you get a ticket for every dollar you donate. Just let me know how many tickets you want and what prizes you want to use your tickets for. You can always contact me offline at heynow@chiprobertson.com for all the gory details. It’s an awesome cause and it’s going to be an evening of mad fun AND PRIZES!!!!! So please, open your hearts and wallets for this event. We want to make the fourth annual show the best one yet!
